Applying to the Y has reminded me of my true passion in life. I'm currently working towards my bachelor and everyday I clock into work, the kids, parents, environment, all these factors keep me motivated to my end goal, which is overall working with children and bettering their future. It's always a positive experience going into work and seeing the smiling staff and students. I'm grateful to be apart of such an amazing team!

In 2014 I had surgery on my knee that left me on crutches for 3 months. After surgery I was left with drop foot and had a difficult time walking with a normal gait . A trainer asked me what was wrong with my leg and why I was walking the way I was walking. After a conversation with Elias Aguirre, he convinced me that if I gave him a chance, he could help me. My doctor told me I would never run again. After working with Elias, I was once again walking with a normal gait and running. The first class I became in involved in was Power Max led by Megan Gibson. She pushed me to work hard for myself. I was finally getting back to being myself. I was so inspired by what a trainer could do for me and an instructor, I myself became a trainer and an instructor.

The YMCA has been my home away from home for many years. A place where I get the opportunity to change lives everyday through health and wellness and create deep meaningful relationships. Many of my closest and dear from were made at the YMCA. I think was many fail to see the impact members have on my life as a person. I've grown as a person more in my time at the YMCA than ever before. The YMCA has given me a purpose, a reason to think bigger than myself. I want to show my children the impact we have each and everyday on people's lives, and I know that being part of the YMCA family is how to provide that for them.

The YMCA provided a welcoming atmosphere that supplemented my personal growth in mind, body, and spirit. It was through the YMCA that I was able to lose over 200 pounds, gain confidence, and motivate myself to become a better person each and every day.

As the Sports Coordinator, I have had the unique opportunity to watch the children of our area grow and learn in their sports. The most amazing part of being a part of the Wichita Falls YMCA is watching these kiddos achieve their goals.
There is a volleyball team that has been a part of our program since Summer Volleyball in 2020. These girls went from an 0-8 season, to winning the Summer Volleyball Championship in 2021. That in itself was impressive. However, seeing their excitement when a teammate got their first serve over the net or how they came together to support one another is the biggest blessing.
This is why I love our YMCA. We get to make an impact in our community and see these kids grow throughout their childhood. Year after year, we strive to make our YMCA a safe and nurturing environment for people of all ages.

I initially became involved with the YMCA when I was 13 and did competitive gymnastics for the Y. I have been a participant of the YMCA of San Diego County gymnastics team. As a staff member I have coached Tiny Tot (2-3 year old) sports, gymnastics, worked in Child Watch, Membership, and even assisted with Sumer Camp and the Enrichment program for children of essential workers. I also volunteered for 3 years for the YMCA's Clash at Clairemont. This is a skate park even held annually to raise awareness and funds to help end cancer.
As a staff member, I have built lasting friendships with several of my co-workers. Working at the Y is not just having co-workers, but it's like having a second family.
As a member of the Y, I was able to train and complete 3 sprint triathlons in 1 year. I had no true experience in any of the 3 events, but with the assistance of our Aquatics director at the time, personal trainers, and Cycling instructors I was able to train and meet this goal.
