Livestrong at the Y
Livestrong Winter / Spring Session
Cancer is a life-changing disease that takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those affected. The Y and LIVESTRONG® have joined together to create LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a research-based physical activity and well-being program for cancer survivors and those currently undergoing treatment. The program focuses on you – the whole person – not the disease.
This free, 12-week program meets twice a week for 90 minutes, using traditional exercise methods to ease you back into fitness and help you maintain a healthy spirit, mind and body.
Participants also learn about wellness, stress reduction and how to continue healthy habits after the program has ended. We encourage a warm spirit of community and provide a place for you to build friendships with others affected by cancer and an opportunity to share stories and inspiration.
The program is designed for adults (18+) who are undergoing or have completed their cancer treatment. A medical release from an authorized healthcare provider is required to participate. LIVESTRONG participants receive a free YMCA membership during the program with full access to YMCA facilities.
Program Goals:
- Improve energy levels and self-esteem
- Build muscular strength and endurance
- Improve flexibility

TESTIMONIAL
"I am so grateful for Livestrong. I was able to join in 2024 after having extensive reconstructive surgery related to breast cancer. It had been a really long time since I had worked out and was honestly intimidated and nervous to do so. However, after getting the "all clear" from my surgeon and oncologist, I was all in! Being with all the ladies in our group made it incredibly fun and working out was actually enjoyable! One of the best parts of this time with Livestrong was that I got to go through it with my mom who has lymphoma and is now in remission. We had the opportunity to make friends with other survivors (who we still have monthly lunches with), learn about ways to create healthy lifestyles for our “new normals”, sample different classes the YMCA offers, learn to tailor work-outs to our own specific needs, and so much more. The confidence, physical strength and capacity, mental health… all of these areas have seen growth for me personally. I am so much farther along today because of my time in Livestrong. I can’t emphasize it enough! I am so grateful for it. The time with my mom has been the biggest gift. Thank you!!!"
