Gymnastics Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Gymnastics, Tumbling, Cheerleading and Dance. Willingness to learn additional areas in the Gymnastics Department. Demonstrated ability to teach the development of skills and proper techniques in area of specialty. Ability to lift equipment and to spot children. Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with members, parents and students. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision-making. Requires current CPR and First Aid certification. General hours will be Monday - Friday 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Teaches a variety of classes in the Gymnastics Department in a positive, safe, educational and fun environment. Positively communicates information on YMCA programs.

  1. Instructs class lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
  2. Assists with preparation of lesson plans and routines for classes.
  3. Develops positive relationships with participants, and provides motivational support and guidance.
  4. Encourages member and parent involvement.
  5. Conveys information about Gymnastics Department programs and schedules to the public.
  6. Follows all YMCA emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  7. Participates in staff meetings, trainings, events, reviews and meets as scheduled.
  8. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  9. Maintains Gymnastics office and class records in an orderly and efficient manner.
  10. Trains and supervises new instructors as assigned.
  11. Upholds all YMCA policies, procedures, standards and code of conduct.
  12. Fulfills any functions designated by the Gymnastics Director for the betterment of the program and the ability of the Wichita Falls YMCA to meet its mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Kitchen Assistant.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide positive environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected. Maintain a kitchen that is safe, clean and free of germs.  Provide nutritious and appealing meals and snacks for children of various age groups. Acquire and maintain a food handler’s certificate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist the Kitchen Manager with estimating needs, receiving; and storing food and supplies.
  2. Prepare foods by performing any combination of the following tasks:
    1. Store food
    2. Record temperature of equipment
    3. Clean utensils, dishes and area
  3. Distribute and/or transport food
  4. Assist in serving food as necessary.
  5. Assist the Kitchen Manager and serve as the cook in their absence
  6. Wash dishes and silverware by hand and also using the dish washer.

Personal Trainer

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the director, the Personal Trainer is responsible for providing high quality personal exercise training, as well as small group training, and conducting physiologically sound, effective and fun training sessions by providing excellent leadership, up-to-date quality instruction and high energy motivation. A key job element is to provide leadership through outstanding customer service to YMCA members and participants. As well he/she must screen individuals' medical histories and current health status to identify major health risk factors; administers fitness assessments and counsels individuals regarding assessment results. Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop friendly, professional relationships with members and participants
  • Adapt training level to meet the objectives of the participants offering a variety of intensity modifications as needed
  • Instruct members in the strength training principles, training procedures, and exercise techniques
  • Teach members the proper and preferred use of all the strength training equipment
  • Provide individual supervision and reinforcement during members’ training sessions
  • Promote Personal Training through personal example and member interaction
  • Help maintain a neat, clean and pleasant environment on the Wellness floor
  • Attend scheduled Wellness Coach/Personal Trainer staff meetings and participates inappropriate workshops
  • Stay current on fitness concepts and ideas

Sports Official

POSITION SUMMARY:

A YMCA Sports Official's position is to referee, officiate and/or umpire games in alignment with the YMCA's mission, ensuring a safe, fair, and fun environment for all participants. Key duties include enforcing sports rules, managing game flow, and building positive relationships with players, parents, and coaches. The role requires knowledge of the sport, good communication skills, and the ability to handle conflicts while promoting sportsmanship.  Incumbent must also have a good understanding of game rules and the equipment used. Certification with the State Association or 2 years’ experience in specific sport is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assess the playing conditions to ensure safety for players
  2. Meet with coaches and players prior to the start of games to ensure understanding of any rules variations that might be in effect
  3. Arrive before the start of games for set up and remain after game for clean up of all equipment and playing areas.
  4. Ensure that games begin and end at scheduled times
  5. Serve as a positive role model to players, parents, coaches, and fellow officials by enforcing all rules, demonstrating good sportsmanship, and officiating consistently with the YMCA Youth Super Sports philosophy
  6. Report any injuries to supervisor
  7. Before each game, bring all teams together and recite the YMCA pledge. 
  8. Understand and enforce all game rules and regulations, as well as enforcing them.
  9. Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct. Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facilities and care for equipment. Responsible for all equipment and reporting any equipment damage or loss to supervisor
  10. Model the YMCA core values at all times.

  12. Adheres to association and position training requirements to include but not limited to; Risk Management & Abuse training within 30 days of hire.  CPR/AED/First Aid required within 60 days of hire.  Must complete, Intro to the Ys Cause & Culture, Y’s Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE. They need to be multi-task oriented and be able to read a game/practice schedule to direct player traffic. This individual needs to be able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds. If individual must carry more than 30 pounds, they must ask for assistance from another staff member.
