Birthday Party Host

Rate: $12.50 - $13.50 Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Branch Director or Program Coordinator and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the incumbent will execute all birthday party programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the set-up and tear down of room and/or reset room for next party.
  • Be available to participants, guests and members for questions, comments and concerns.
  • Aid parents in the carrying of presents, cakes, etc and all party supplies, when needed.
  • Give assistance to parents in the party room as needed and respond to parents’ specific needs and requests.
  • Upkeep and cleaning of party room, tables, chairs, floors etc.
  • Risk management maintenance of the party room, including locking of the doors.
  • Be available to membership for questions, comments and concerns.
  • May work at any location and adjust your schedule as to the needs of the association.
  • Adhere to association and position training requirements.

 Qualifications:          

  • Must be a minimum age of 16 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma and experience working with customers.
  • Must have CPR/AED & First Aid within 60 days of hire.

Lifeguard

The Lifeguard at Wichita Falls YMCA creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area. 
  2. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model; completes related reports as required.
  3. Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  5. Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
  6. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
  7. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  8. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  9. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.
  10. Adheres to association and position training requirements.
  11. Work various hours and locations to meet association needs.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration 
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • Child abuse prevention & risk management training within 30 days of hire date
  • Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
  • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards

Sports Building and Field Representative

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Sports Director, the Gym / Field Supervisor will supervise specific adult and/or youth programs including (but not limited to): basketball, baseball, indoor soccer, volleyball etc. The gym/field Supervisor is also responsible for responding to various situations in order to ensure safety for participants and spectators and opens and closes the site as need.  This position must perform program responsibilities in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values and objectives of the Wichita Falls YMCA.   This is a seasonal position that operates weekday evenings and weekend days and evenings. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises activities at site(s) and surrounding areas to ensure safety and welfare of users.
  2. Reports and monitors all mechanical and equipment problems.
  3. Sets up equipment, and returns equipment to storage.
  4. Ensures cleanliness and safety of facilities and equipment.
  5. Also may include cleaning restrooms, trash removal, sweeping and putting the facility/fields to an organized and clean state.
  6. Enforces all rules, regulations and policies, maintains proper documentation and reports incidents and accidents.
  7. Assists other staff. Answer inquiries from participants, and provides information.
  8. Attend meetings and approved training as required.
  9. May be responsible for opening and closing a facility.
  10. May work at any location and adjust your schedule as to the needs of the association.
  11. Adheres to association and position training requirements.
  12. Work various hours and locations to meet association needs.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager

  1. Must meet minimum age requirement of 16 years old.
  2. One year or more of related experience preferred.
  3. High degree of human relations and conflict management skills to tactfully enforce all rules and regulations.
  4. Move, set up, store and move equipment weighing up to fifty pounds.
  5. Tactfully enforce all rules and regulations.
  6. Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain/report accurate incident/accident forms.
  7. CPR/AED & First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.

Swim Instructor.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of The Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Swim Instructor creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintains safe program conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA and the YMCA of the USA swim lesson curriculum. A swim instructor provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students and families in group, private, and semi-private swim lesson

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA and supervisor guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly and in advance.
  2. Regularly demonstrates patience, enthusiasm, and communication abilities to properly motivate participants to achieve their swimming goals.
  3. Able to effectively teach a class of 1-8 participants of varying ages different swim strokes and water safety techniques.
  4. Evaluates each participant's performance and provides constructive feedback, including completing attendance, progress, and accident reports if needed.
  5. Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
  6. Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
  7. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, awards, etc.).
  8. Attends staff meetings and training as regularly scheduled.
  9. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  10. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  11. Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification at time of hire.   
  2. Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
  3. YMCA Swim Instructor certification or nationally recognized equivalent.
  4. At least 16 years of age.
