Greetings from the Y!

If I asked ten people in Wichita Falls what the YMCA does, I would probably get ten different answers. Some would say we are a gym. Others would say childcare, basketball, swimming, or youth sports.  They would all be right, but those things are really how we deliver our mission.

We are ultimately working every day to is strengthen people, strengthen families, and create a more connected community. Kids need positive adults in their lives. Parents need support. Seniors need relationships. Families need places where they can spend time together. Our community needs places where people who might otherwise never interact can actually get to know one another.

That's where the Y comes in.

We create those connections every day when a coach invests in a kid, someone learns a member's name, a parent knows their child is safe with us, or someone comes to exercise and finds a group of people they look forward to seeing.

Our programs and facilities are important, but they are tools for something bigger. We strive to create opportunities for people to build relationships, grow, and become part of something larger than themselves.  So when someone asks what the YMCA does, the answer is bigger than swimming, basketball, childcare, or fitness. We bring people together and strengthen our community.

As some major projects are nearing completion, stay tuned for new opportunities to connect, engage, and experience the Y as we continue creating a place where more people can be, become, and belong.

Our Kindergarten program is about so much more than learning letters and numbers, it’s about building confidence, curiosity, friendships, and a lifelong love of learning.

Every day, our kindergarteners are encouraged to explore, create, ask questions, and discover what they’re capable of. With caring teachers and a supportive environment, we’re helping children build the skills they need to thrive both in the classroom and beyond.

The impact of Kindergarten lasts a lifetime.
