July 2025 Mission Monday

A newsletter for volunteers, employees, and friends of the YMCA of Wichita Falls

Dear YMCA Family,
I am thrilled to share some wonderful news—thanks to your incredible generosity, we have met our Annual Campaign Fundraising goal! Your support ensures that we can continue to strengthen our community through essential outreach programs and provide financial assistance to families and individuals who need it most. This achievement is not just a number—it represents lives changed, opportunities created, and hope renewed.
Recently, we hosted an Impact Tour at our Downtown YMCA, giving our supporters a firsthand look at our mission in action. From summer campers laughing and learning to young athletes and swimmers discovering their strengths and building friendships, the energy was contagious. The stories of transformation shared that day continue to inspire a spirit of generosity and remind us just how powerful a caring, compassionate community can be.
Looking ahead, we’re filled with anticipation as we prepare to launch several new programs this fall—each one designed to help our community grow in spirit, mind, and body. Whether it’s through wellness initiatives, youth development, or family-focused events, we are committed to creating spaces where everyone can thrive.
At the YMCA of Wichita Falls, we strive each day to be a place where individuals and families can be, become, and belong.Thank you for believing in our mission and for walking alongside us to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.
With gratitude,
Jon Dearolf
President and CEO

KINDERGARTEN
Some parents are not ready to send their kids to public school, so the Y is stepping up and has created a Kindergarten program ready to serve our children.
The YMCA Kindergarten program is dedicated to nurturing and developing the whole child. With a strong emphasis on building a solid academic foundation, the program prepares children for long-term success both in and out of school. It features phonics-based reading strategies, fosters social and emotional growth, and offers enriching activities that promote academic excellence, independence, and values-based learning.

Should You Encourage
Your Child to Play Sports?
Youth sports keep kids active
Research consistently shows that involvement in sports can significantly benefit children in numerous ways, from improving physical health to boosting mental and emotional well-being to developing social skills. Whether it’s soccer, baseball, gymnastics or tennis, here’s why you should consider getting your child involved in sports—and how you can help support them along the way:
