A newsletter for volunteers, employees, and friends of the YMCA of Wichita Falls

Dear YMCA Members and Community,

It has been another exciting month here at the YMCA! The past few weeks have been heartwarming, and I want to take a moment to reflect on an immensely special event we’ve had the privilege of supporting.

This past month, the YMCA, thanks to the vision and leadership of Onelife Community Church, had the incredible honor to be a part of the Night to Shine event. It was a night full of joy, celebration, and community as we came together to honor and celebrate individuals with unique abilities. Seeing the smiles on the faces of hundreds of Honored Guests was a reminder of the impact we can make when we work together to create a welcoming, supportive environment for all.

Meaningful partnerships like the one we share with Onelife Community Church are at the very heart of what makes our community so strong. It is through collaboration with organizations and churches that we can truly come together and uplift one another. We are grateful that these partnerships enable all of us to extend our collective reach, making an even greater impact on the lives of individuals and families in Wichita Falls.

Thank you to the leadership of Onelife Community Church for all their amazing work in delivering this wonderful community event.  We are grateful for every volunteer and community partner who made Night to Shine a success. The dedication to serving others and fostering an inclusive environment truly reflects the spirit of our community.

As we look forward to the months ahead, I encourage each of you to stay engaged with the YMCA and we are grateful for your support in the important work we are doing together. We are stronger together, and I am excited to see the continued growth and positive impact we will have on our community.

Thank you for being a part of this journey.

Sincerely,

Jon Dearolf

President and CEO

February is Black History Month, a time to remember and celebrate the Black leaders who have helped move the Y – and America – forward in our collective journey to advance inclusion and equity for all.

In 1947, Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier and became the first Black major league baseball player. This same year he also became a volunteer boys coach at the Harlem YMCA with fellow coach and teammate Roy Campanella.
