YMCA SWIM LESSONS!

 

The YMCA's Swim Lesson Program is for children 6 months and up. Each level includes water adjustment, safety education, use of personal flotation devices, fun, exercise and parent education. Students are tested at the end of each session and progress as skills are learned.


SWIM LESSONS FEE  (Per Session):  Members:  $40,     Non Members:   $50


BILL BARTLEY BRANCH FAMILY YMCA SWIM LESSON REGISTRATION

Classes are limited in size. Early registration is recommended. Sessions meet 4 days per week for 2 weeks. Fridays are used for make-up classes as needed.

Lightning Policy (Indoor & Outdoor Pools): For the safety of our swimmers, the pool will be closed for 30 minutes following any lightning sighted by YMCA staff.


YMCA SKIPS (6-36 MONTHS OLD) PARENT/CHILD LESSONS
Parent and teacher help introduce child to water through fun songs, games and other early childhood learning techniques.
             Time:   AM:    9:40-10:10 am, 10:15-10:45 am

                         PM:    6-6:30 pm, 6:30-7 pm


PRESCHOOL AGE LESSONS (3 - 5 years)
Pike: Children learn beginning skills such as kicking, breath control, paddle stroke, front and back floating and the use of personal flotation devices.
              Time:   AM: 9:40-10:10 am, 10:15-10:45 am
                          PM: 6-6:30 pm, 6:30-7 pm
Eel/Ray/Starfish: Children learn intermediate skills such as prone glide, increased kicking endurance, breath control, paddle stroke and back flutter kick, then progress to the front crawl, rotary breathing and elementary backstroke.
            Time:      AM: 10:15-10:45 am
                           PM: 6-6:30 pm, 6:30-7 pm


PROGRESSIVE SWIM (Ages 6 years and up)
Trained instructors help students develop endurance, water safety and swimming skills, along with self-confidence and water enjoyment. Following are standards for classification:
Polliwog (Beginners)
            Time:        AM: 9:40-10:10 am, 10:15-10:45 am
                              PM: 6-6:30 pm, 6:30-7 pm
Guppy (Intermediate beginner): Can swim 20 feet without flotation device.
             Time:        AM: 9:40-10:10 am, 10:15-10:45 am
                              PM: 6–6:30 pm, 6:30–7 pm
Minnow/Fish (Advanced beginner, Low intermediate): Can swim 50 feet with rotary breathing.
             Time:        AM: 9:40-10:10 am
                               PM: 6-6:30 pm, 6:30-7 pm
Flying Fish/Shark (Intermediate, Advanced): Can swim front crawl with rotary breathing.
            Time:         AM: 10:15-10:45 am
                               PM: 6-6:30 pm, 6:30-7 pm



DOWNTOWN YMCA SWIM LESSON REGISTRATION
Class is limited in size. Early registration is recommended. Class meets on a monthly basis.


Pike ( Beginners, 3 - 5 years):   

         Time:       Tues & Thurs, 5:45-6:15 pm
Polliwog (Beginners 6 years and up):

         Time:        Tues & Thurs, 6:15-6:45 pm
